A Note from the Chamber President

I know that change isn’t always welcome, and often people resist change. I am considered Generation X and try to keep an open mind about change, as I know I will see it in my daughters. I always consider myself conservative and ‘like more information’ when people propose changes that will affect me. So when the tope of moving Early Settlers Day to the park was suggested, I sat back and pondered, “Would this be a good or bad change”

To my suprise, little was known about the history of Early Settlers Day or whether, in the past, the topic of moving it had been discussed. It turns outs, although Early Settlers Day started in 1915, at a meeting in 1981, and Early Settlers Day move was discussed, and this subject has been continuing for over 20 years (that we could track). “So why not move it?” was my response.

Early Settlers Day, 2009, was one of the best, well-run, well-attended and celebrated that I’ve seen. I can’t say enough about how happy we all were with the results and with all the great feedback we received. Tim, good job! And thank you to all who attended, volunteered, participated and sat back and pondered.
